It is a strange bridge from your stupid ego to the Infinite Reality.
Each time you take two steps, the bridge behind you is burnt.
-Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda
The central philosophical concepts of Atmavidya (or knowledge of the Self) in Hinduism are contained in ancient Sanskrit texts called the Upanishads, a part of Vedas. Upanishads are also known as Vedanta. The sacred doctrine is known to grant freedom from suffering and lead to the state of unbridled happiness. Riddled with seemingly contradictory and cryptic statements, the secret of Vedanta can be unraveled only by Masters who have translated theoretical knowledge to experiential abidance.
Prepare for a journey that will defy and challenge your current perspective on life. Discover a deeper meaning to living. Through a series of week-long lectures once a month, Swami Ishwarananda will demystify the principal Upanishads. Swamiji recently finished the overview of Kathopanishad and Mundakopanishad.
It is said that even if the entire Vedic literature was somehow destroyed, Ishavasya Upanishad alone is potent enough to reproduce it all once again. This Upanishad derives it name from its first verse – isha vasyam, meaning “enveloped by the Lord”. This Upanishad is part of the Shukla Yajurveda and addresses the divergent paths of karmas and the path of knowledge. It reminds us about our non-duality with the supreme One and urges us onto the path of self-exploration.
Swamiji will unravel the deep secrets of Ishvasya Upanishad in a week-long lecture series. Everyone is welcome to attend the lectures. Please be seated in the hall 5 minutes before start of lecture.
Pre-requisite is an inquisitive mind.
