Mahashivaratri Celebrations

Mahashivaratri is celebrated to venerate Lord Shiva and marks the day when the Lord manifested as a blazing column of fire. The festival is celebrated on the new moon day in the month of Maagha according to the Hindu calendar. It is believed that the people who fast on this night and offer prayers to Lord Shiva bring good luck into their life.
Lord Shiva is the main deity in Rameshwaram temple. Mahashivaratri celebrations are done on grand scale with the day devoted to chantings, offerings, homas and contemplation. Everyone is invited to celebrate the auspicious occasion by singing the glory of the Lord on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at Chinmaya Rameshwaram.
