Government Restrictions and Special Notes:
- All yatris are expected to be present on all days of the yatra unless an unexpected exigency arises during the yatra days.
- Yatris are not permitted to join the group midway into the yatra.
- Medical Fitness: The yatra itinerary will take yatris to 12,000+ ft at the highest elevation. This will necessitate yatris to take high altitude sickness prevention medication Diamox on 1-2 days. Additionally, there are several places where yatris would be required to walk in hilly terrain or undertake non-stop travel by road for 4-5 hours straight. Hence, all yatris are advised to speak to their doctor to assess their fitness level to ensure that they can unreservedly participate in a fast-paced group travel schedule.
- Yatris should plan to check-in by 6pm on Nov 27 and be part of the welcome dinner arranged with Swamiji and also to collect passports for the permits.
- Yatris who would like to do an early checkout should not plan to leave before 11 pm on Dec 11, in the event there are delays in the Bagdogra-New Delhi flight due to known fog conditions in New Delhi in December.
- Government Regulations & Restrictions: Entry and sightseeing in Sikkim requires issuance of special permits by government authorities. Strict documentation and procedures are to be followed for timely issuance of the permits. All selected yatris must follow the written instructions that will be provided on email later.
- Government Regulations & Restrictions: Per the rules of Indian Ministry of External Affairs, if you plan to travel to or transit through China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Pakistan, Myanmar, Macau, Nigeria or Afghanistan anytime in the 4 months prior to the commencement of yatra, you will be ineligible to get the Sikkim entry permits. It is completely yatri’s responsibility to adhere to this requirement. If you are scheduled to travel to any of these countries in that timeframe, we urge you to not register / withdraw your application.
- Government Regulations & Restrictions: Yatris travelling with Diplomat Passports/Official Passport require a detailed approval process to get the Sikkim permit from Ministry of External Affairs. We are unable to provide that service for this yatra.
- Government Regulation: Selected Yatris must be prepared to email a flat color scan of their Passport + Visa/OCI (as applicable) + color scan of 2″x2″ passport picture to yatra@chinmayala.org latest by May 15, 2025. The scans have to be submitted to Sikkim authorities for permits. Do not take picture of the Passport/Visa/OCI from a phone camera. Instead use a flatbed scanner or get the documents scanned at local Fedex/UPS stores. Passports should not be expiring before June 10, 2026 (6-month validity post-completion required). Detail instructions will be in the approval email.
If you have any concerns regarding the schedule, contact the yatra team at yatra@chinmayala.org prior to submitting your registration.
